Are you a student wanting to major in music in college? If so, I encourage you to consider pursuing your ambitions at Harding University. In addition to the Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Composition, we also offer other performance degrees and programs of study in general music and music education. Our fully-accredited school of music has a growing composition studio, and every semester I enjoy working with creative people just like you, helping them to hone their music-writing skills. Graduates from my studio have continued their studies with some of the nation's foremost post-baccalaureate composition programs, including the University of North Texas, Arizona State University, and Peabody Conservatory.
Harding provides a strong Christian environment to help you to grow spiritually, socially and intellectually, and has been ranked nationally among the top universities for engagement and inspiration. Our students support and encourage one another, as well as develop strong friendships with their mentors. Many study abroad at one of our international campuses or with our Mostly Music summer program in Europe. At our main campus in Searcy, Arkansas, composition students have the opportunity to work with advanced music software, such as Pro Tools and Max, and to collaborate with students in our film program. Projects created either for electronics or live performers are premiered each semester on our New Music recitals, involving a significant number of our music majors.
Harding offers very competitive scholarship packages, and our music students are invited to earn income by teaching some of over 300 private lessons weekly in the Searcy Community School of Music.
I look forward to meeting with you to discuss how we can advance your music career in this special environment that you won't just find everywhere. Give us a closer look and learn about scholarship auditions by reading more here.
